  Begrijp mij niet verkeerd. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy krijgt van mij 5 sterren.
  Echter niet in deze uitgave. De bladzijdes staan qua dikte en stevigheid gelijk aan vloeipapier.
  Wanneer je het boek vast houdt zakt deze om je hand heen.
  Ik was zelfs bang om een bladzijde om te slaan, constant het gevoel dat deze zo doormidden scheurde.

  Zelf heb ik dit artikel dan ook gelijk retour gestuurd en de "duurdere" collectie genomen met een papierdikte die wel normaal hanteert.

  Over inhoud van het boek ga ik het niet hebben. Afwerking van het boek is zeermooie druk. Let op. Omwille van het groot aantal pagina's (800) is het gedrukt op zeer dun papier, maar toch stevig genoeg. Tot nu toe slechts 1 drukfoutje tegengekomen. Afwerking met zilver op snee wat een extra uitstraling heeft

  One morning Arthur Dent wakes up with yellow bulldozers in front of his house which is to be demolished to make way for a highway bypass. He doesn’t know it yet, but this scene is about to be repeated on a much grander scale when a large yellow spaceship enters the Earth’s atmosphere.

  This omnibus contains all five main novels of ‘The Hitchhiker Trilogy’ written by Douglas Adams as well as the short story ‘Young Zaphod Plays It Safe’. These are the novelizations of what originally started as a BBC radio comedy also (mostly) written by Douglas Adams. The Hitchhiker series has been and still is vastly influential in every form of media and for that reason alone it is worth reading (also to understand why all your colleagues at the office keep answering ‘42’ to all your questions). It will not necessarily be suitable for everyone, though. For instance, the storyline remains somewhat underdeveloped as it is clearly secondary to the comedy. This may occasionally give the impression of lack of direction. One will have to accept that for many things in these books there simply is no point whatsoever in them happening … they just happen. Indeed it takes a particular sense of humor to appreciate the Hitchhiker series. Basically they consist of a continuous, unceasing barrage of silliness and weirdness. Often this is decidedly funny, but occasionally the jokes are not very subtle or even a bit bland and tiring. However, for people that are fond of the British, Monty Python-ish, absurd, deadpan kind of humor this Trilogy of Five that raises nonsense to an art form is without doubt a safe bet. Overall, ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ is one-of-a-kind, charming, very inventive and amusing.

  People that enjoyed this series may also like ‘Good Omens’ by Pratchett and Gaiman.
